Nevada Thespians is a chapter of the International Thespian Society, a division of the Educational Theatre Association. The International Thespian Society is a non-profit, tax-exempt honorary organization for high school theatre students. The society is committed to the advancement of educational theatre, and to this end publishes Dramatics Magazine, sponsors Thespian Festivals and theatre workshops, produces educational materials, and provides college scholarship opportunities for students.
Who attends the Conference? Over 300 of Nevada’s most dedicated theatre students in grades 6 to 12th grade.
Why should you attend? Students will have the opportunity to train with some of the state’s leading professionals in Acting, Directing, Playwriting, and Technical Theatre. Students may also compete in Individual Events and be invited to the International Thespian Festival. The conference also affords students the opportunity to watch professional theatre productions and main stage presentations, produced by their area high school theatre programs.
Some of the student opportunities and benefits are:

•Perform an Individual Event: Gain three critiques and have an opportunity to compete nationally.

•Run for a State Board position: Make decisions for the State of Nevada Thespians

How much does the conference cost? The conference fee is $55 w/a conference t-shirt or $45 w/out a t-shirt, plus $10 for each individual event. Fees include the cost of admission to the conference, workshops and performances. It also includes lunch on Friday during the special field trip. The registration fee does not cover the cost of your hotel room or other meals. The host school will provide food for purchase during the conference with proceeds going toward the host school as a fundraiser. Is there supervision at the conference? YES! Each troupe director who has students attending is required to attend whenever their students are present or to provide a chaperone authorized by their administration to supervise their own group. All students must have a current health form and conference contract on file at the registration desk as well as in their name badge. Troupe directors are to provide copies for each student to place in their name badge at the conference. Nevada Thespians provides security in and around the Conference Location.
