NEVADA STATE THESPIAN INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
 
PERFORMANCE & PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
 
STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE AN EXCELLENT OR SUPERIOR RATING ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL EVENT AT THEIR RESPECTIVE  NEVADA REGIONAL FESTIVAL ARE INVITED TO PERFORM THEIR PRESENTATIONS IN FRONT OF ADJUDICATORS AT THE STATE LEVEL.
 
For all events:
1.  No costumes or theatrical makeup is allowed, unless it is an integral part of the number.  Participants are encouraged to dress as they would for a general audition or job interview.
2.  Only integral hand props should be used.  When in doubt, don’t use them.
3.  All performance events are limited to FIVE minutes.  All technical presentations are limited to TEN minutes.  Judges will pay strict adherence to the time restrictions.
4.  Students and sponsors are encouraged to observe the Individual Events, and to support their fellow Thespians.  We ask if you arrive after the doors are closed, to wait until the appropriate time to be admitted.
5.  Material must be drawn from published scripts written for theatre, works from other forms;   such as poetry, film, fiction and song lyrics, and original pieces are not permitted.
6.  In duet or group scenes, each participant must be actively involved in the scene.
7.  Introductions should include the student’s names, title of selections, and the names of the playwrights.  YOUR  INTRODUCTION IS NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR TIME LIMIT OF FIVE MINUTES.   DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR SCHOOL NAME IN THE INTRODUCTION!  
8.  The Nevada State Thespian Board will determine the number of entries and events in the Individual Events annually.  
9.  Students may participate in no more than 2 Individual Events.
10.  There will be another $5.00 fee for each change made.
11.  Evaluation forms are available to I.E. participants at the end of the Festival and can be picked up at the information area by the sponsor.  
 
Short plays/One-Acts: Basic set pieces will be available during the Festival such as: 1 couch, chairs, 2 tables.  All other set needs must be provided by the participating school.  Schools will be provided with a dead hang for each show-if you have special lighting or sound needs-please let us know in advance of the festival.  For example: sound tapes, spotlight, ....You are limited to a ten- minute set-up prior to the show and a ten-minute strike after the show.   PLEASE TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE LIMITED TIME AVAILABLE BETWEEN ONE-ACT PLAYS.
